Medical Packaging Belt Conveyor System

This conveyor belt system was designed for a medical device manufacturer who needed to package a medical product into boxes. Empty boxes were loaded from the left side of this image onto an Auto-Kinetics heavy-duty belt conveyor. The boxes were loaded with product in the middle of this conveyor.

Loaded boxes were transferred onto a second Auto-Kinetics heavy-duty belt conveyor for offload. This conveyor had a low-friction belt to allow the loaded boxes to be pushed across the belt perpendicular to the conveyor’s direction of travel.

Reflective photoelectric sensors were provided to detect parts in place at the entrance and exit of both conveyors.

Custom Conveyor System specifications

Conveyor belt speed: Up to 44 feet per minute, variable speed.
Input voltage: 120V, 60 Hz.
Infeed/loading conveyor:
- Auto-Kinetics Model 55 Heavy-Duty belt conveyor, 640mm wide x 120″ long.
- FDA-approved conveyor belt.
- Bottom mount drive module with 3/8 HP inverter-duty motor, 230V AC 3-phase.
- 2″ stainless steel fixed side rails.
- Extruded aluminum floor stands, 25″ from floor to top of conveyor belt.
Discharge conveyor:
- Auto-Kinetics Model 55 Heavy-Duty belt conveyor, 480mm wide x 36″ long.
- FDA-approved low-friction conveyor belt.
- Bottom mount drive module with 3/8 HP inverter-duty motor, 230V AC 3-phase.
- 2″ stainless steel fixed side rail on one side of conveyor.
- Extruded aluminum stop on entrance end of conveyor.
- Extruded aluminum floor stands with leveling screws, 25″ from floor to top of conveyor belt.
Controls and sensors provided:
- (2) KB Electronics KBAC-24D variable frequency AC motor controllers, 120V AC single-phase input, 230V AC 3-phase output.
- (4) Banner World-Beam QS18 Series reflective photoelectric sensors with reflectors and custom mounts.
